Toy story 3

Date: 26 June 2010

Cinema: Tiong Bahru Golden Village

Accompany: Justin, Eric and Eugene

It sometimes takes a lot of effort to restart your “engine” if you haven’t been writing for a very long time, and this is probably the reason why it took me so long to write after watching toy story.

Ok so let’s get back to the movie. Toy story 3: another children movie suitable for kids and the whole family. Toy story 3 is an easy to understand movie, despite the fact that I know nuts about toy story 1 and 2.

Overview

The movie revolves around Andy and his toys. By now Andy is already a grown up and he no longer plays with his toys. On the other hand, Andy’s toy’s are trying to get Andy’s attention, hoping he will pick them up again someday, or at least keep them in the attic. However, accidents happen and that is where the adventure starts.

What’s interesting?

Firstly, you get to see the different abilities different toys have, spring dogs, robots, cow boys and girls and even Barbie dolls etc. you get to know that appearance can be deceiving, what seems nice and friendly can be evil beneath. I’m not sure if this is the message that the movie wants to bring across to the kids, but I sure can see that.

Well…for a kiddo movie (like what my god brother used to call me) like that, I’m surprise to learn a lot from it. If you love something or somebody, perhaps the best thing is to let go. If you know you can’t provide what is needed, why hold on when you know there is someone who can provide a much better offer?

The Karate Kid (the movie that introduces violent to kids)

Date: 10 June 2010

Cinema: AMK Hub Cathay

Accompany: Melissa and Peishan

The Karate Kid: 2 KungFu movies in a row, I must be really crazy. Anyway, this is KungFu movie about an American black kid who move to china with his mom and got bullied by the kids there. Along the way, he learns martial art from the strange guy (Jacky Chan) and defeated the kids in the tournament.

What is probably interesting about the movie is that the movie portrays the different cultures of the east and the west. Putting the martial arts aside, it is an interesting movie for those who want to have a laugh at the conflicts of the different culture.

I must also agree that the fighting scenes are also fascinating, with a touch of emotion from the Dre and Mr Han.

It’s probably a good movie to watch with a big group of friends. But I personally think it’s not suitable for young kids. (unless you want your kids to get violent=))

IP Man 2

Surprise surprise, it’s more than 5 months since I last watch a movie, and never did I expect to watch a movie like IP man 2. To keep it short, I went to watch this movie with 2 friends at Junction 8 GV.

Well, let’s talk about what IP man 2 is all about. IP man 2 is a continuum from IP man 1 (although, I never watch IP man 1 before). This time round, Mr. IP starts his career in Hong Kong setting up his martial art training school in HK, along the way, he met his first student “Wang Liang” and Master Hong, who appear as a big bully in the beginning but turn up to be Mr. Upright who fought to defend his own race.

What is good about the movie is that despite the fact that there is a lot of fighting scene in the movie, unlike most KungFu movie, the movie actually have a storyline in it! Furthermore as you watch the movie, not only do you follow the movie blindly, you actually get drawn into the movie. You get remorseful for Mr. Hong’s death; you get angry for how the British are treating the locals and more importantly you get so tense up worrying about the battle between Mr. IP battle with Twister (the actor really did a good job in portraying how arrogant and proud this is).

A movie worth to watch, despite my perception against KungFu movie=)
